CANAL BOAT FITTING.
We strongly advise installations in canal boats to conform to
Code of Practise for the installation of solid fuel fired heating and cooking appliances in small craft BS 8511:2010
For lots of information relating to boat installation please visit the boat safety scheme website
On a canal boat the appliance should be installed by a competant person with knowledge of the code of Practise
and secured onto a suitable non combustible hearth. Any open flued appliance installed is subjected to changeable atmospheric conditions which may allow harmful fumes to enter the cabin. It is essential therefore to install an electronic carbon monoxide detector in accordance with BS EN 50292 alongside any appliance. If not correctly fitted and maintained the appliance could endanger the boat and any persons aboard.
